With lawn mowing season upon us, there’s never been a better time to think propane.  According to the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC), propane gas service is the future of landscaping services. Landscapers all over the country are relying on propane as the alternative fuel of choice to boost productivity and save time and money.

ThompsonGas can provide your lawn mowing or landscaping business the commercial propane you need to reduce operating costs and increase business & performance speeds. Here are a few reasons upgrading your lawn mowing equipment and powering with commercial propane is a smart choice for your business:

  • Propane is competitively priced and costs less to operate than conventionally fueled mowers and trimmers. On a daily basis, a 72-inch riding lawnmower powered by propane instead of gasoline can save you between $20-$30!
  • Propane-fueled lawn mowing equipment provides the same proven performance plus increased productivity compared to gasoline or diesel equipment.
  • Equipment powered by propane gas service runs cleaner than gasoline or diesel, releasing up to 26% less greenhouse gas emissions and as much as 60% less carbon monoxide.
  • Propane is made in the U.S. It’s an abundant, domestic fuel, and refueling is easy because of existing propane delivery services from ThompsonGas.
  • Propane-powered lawn mowers deliver less downtime and less maintenance.
  • Additional savings are possible as fuel spillage, leakage and even theft are virtually eliminated.

PERC also offers exciting mower incentive programs that equal extra savings. The Propane Mower Incentive Program gives landscape contractors $1,000 per qualifying new propane mower purchase or $500 per qualifying mower conversion. Participants must provide feedback and performance data for one mowing season in exchange.

ThompsonGas also offers propane autogas for commercial landscapers. Dedicated propane lawn mowers & other landscaping equipment operate from a centralized propane refueling station located on your premises, saving you time and operating expenses. It’s simple, onsite and cost-effective. Your employees will be more efficient and get on the road much quicker because their fuel source is onsite. Mow more grass while making more money!

There’s never been a better time for landscaping contractors to switch to propane service. To learn more about our commercial propane offerings for landscapers and other industries, visit our website.

Winter Propane Gas Delivery Safety

No matter the weather conditions, our propane delivery truck drivers work around the clock to ensure your propane home is warm all winter. After a snowstorm, we ask that all of our residential propane customers plow or shovel their driveways and sidewalks. This not only keeps you and your family safe, it also allows our trucks access to your driveway so they can safely make a propane delivery.

If your tank is underground, please shovel a path to the tank as well. The easier it is for us to reach your tank, the faster we can help fuel your home. It also adds an extra ounce of safety so our drivers don’t risk slipping or tripping on snow or ice while servicing your tank. The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) recommends these other propane safety precautions before a winter storm hits:

• Make sure your propane tank (whether it’s above or below ground) is marked with a flag, pole or stake that’s higher than the average snow cover depth for your area. This makes it easier to find during snow removal or propane delivery.

• Have an adequate supply of propane in your tank. Contact us before or after a storm for delivery.

• Know how and where to shut off the outdoor propane supply, indoor propane appliances, electricity and water.

• Never store or place a propane cylinder indoors or in an enclosed area such as a basement, garage, shed or tent.

• Make sure that you and your family knows what propane smells like in case of a leak.

• Consider installing a propane gas detector for additional safety.

• Create an emergency preparedness plan and review it often with your family.

As always, if you have a residential propane emergency or need a repair, contact us immediately. Stay warm and stay safe this winter with ThompsonGas!

2013 New Year’s Resolution: Switch to Propane!

Each year we make the same ol’ New Year’s resolutions, but how many of us actually keep our promises? This year, why not resolve to do something that will benefit your family, the environment and your wallet: switch from oil/electric to propane. Based on five of the most common New Year’s resolutions, we’ve put together a list of reasons why 2013 could be the year of savings by converting from oil to propane.
1. Lose Weight (Cut Energy Use)
An approved, clean fuel, propane is one of the cleanest burning of all fossil fuels. Per pound of fuel burned, coal emits more than twice the amount of carbon dioxide as propane. Appliances powered by propane are 10-15% more efficient than oil and electric. Propane-fueled vehicles produce 30-90% less carbon monoxide and about 50% fewer toxins and other emissions than gasoline engines. Propane is nontoxic, so it’s not harmful to soil or water either.
2. Get Out of Debt (Save Money by Powering Your Home with Propane)
With propane gas services by ThompsonGas, you could save your household $500-$1,000 each year withresidential propane. Propane savings are nearly $1.4 per gallon compared to current oil and electric prices. While a 53 gallon electric tank water heater could run you $585 a year to operate, a standard tankless propane water heater costs only $375 a year. In short, you could save 35% in costs annually!
3. Spend More Time with Family & Friends
Gather the family around a warm fireplace for game night, or invite all your friends over for Sunday night football and burgers on your propane-powered grill. From propane home heating, to cooking and grilling, ThompsonGas will help you get the most from your propane home. Whether you’re grilling outside, heating your swimming pool or spa, or fueling your indoor fireplace, propane is the choice fuel for energy-efficient, convenient and reliable family fun.
4. Learn Something New
Did you know with more than 6,000 retail dealer locations, propane is readily available all throughout the U.S.? Used for everything from cooking, heating and cooling, to farm equipment, emergency generators and lighting, propane is more versatile than you think. Thanks to portable tanks, propane can be used in areas beyond gas mains. Fleet vehicles, cargo vans and even police cruisers can run more efficiently with propane, and nearly 97% of propane consumed in the U.S. is produced in North America.
5. Be Less Stressed
Don’t rely on just anyone for your propane service. Count on ThompsonGas, the most trusted name in the industry. Converting from oil to propane with us is worry-free because we handle the installation, repair, propane delivery, servicing and more — everything from start to finish.
